"You are asking us what we can do to make the relations better. And people in China are asking what the United States can do to make the relations better. For many of the issues, sometimes I just don't understand why misconceptions could continue and even spread," he said.
Noting COVID-19 is raging around the world, Regalado said China has spared no effort to help other countries fight the pandemic and that working with China to tackle the epidemic and other challenges should be the right choice for the U.S. government.
BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said Friday that the U.S. attempts to smear and slander China's political system and drive a wedge between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people are doomed to fail.
Noting that the world is a global village, Wang said that all parties should unite and cooperate to build a strong fortress to defend global public health and jointly oppose stigmatization of the virus and politicization of the pandemic.

Milan Brglez, member of the European Parliament and the member of leadership of Slovenian Social Democratic Party said he was worried that the signing of the declaration could worsen relations between Slovenia and China.
He recalled that leaders and statesmen of the elder generation in China and the United States acted in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and made the political decision of historic significance with their exceptional strategic vision and political courage to rise above the differences in ideology and social systems.
"Our cultural cooperation is great. Fijians go to China and learn about Chinese culture. We can see the integration and cooperation between us. Our two peoples have learned a lot from each other," he said, adding cultural exchange has also "helped us become a family of nations."
