At a time when the future of the world is at stake, China will continue to champion and pursue multilateralism, safeguard the UN-centered international system, and promote multipolarity and greater democracy in international relations, Wang added. Enditem

Li said in his congratulatory message that China and Sri Lanka enjoy traditional friendship, and recent years have seen their strategic partnership developing vigorously, which features sincere mutual help and time-hornored friendship, and their practical cooperation in various fields constantly broadening and deepening.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji.

"To safeguard and stabilize China-U.S. relations is the call of the people and the trend of the times," Yang said. "We urges U.S. decision-makers to respect facts of history, recognize the trend of the times, heed the visionary calls in the United States, and listen to the voice of the international community."

BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- When talking about his work at the Central Intelligence Agency, the former director Mike Pompeo has never been that honest: "We lied, we cheated, we stole ... It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment."

In December 2018, it demanded relevant Chinese media organization's U.S. office to register as "foreign agent." Since 2018, the U.S. side has indefinitely delayed approval and even denied application of visas for 20 U.S.-based Chinese journalists. In February 2020, the U.S. side designated five Chinese media organizations in the United States as "foreign missions" and then placed a cap on the number of their staff, in effect expelling 60 Chinese journalists. In May, the U.S. side limited visas for Chinese journalists to 90 days. In June, the U.S. side again added an additional four Chinese media organizations in the United States to the list of "foreign agent."

He said that China and the United States should avoid strategic miscalculation and manage well their differences. "China is always open to dialogue and communication with the United States. The two sides should enhance cooperation through communication, and properly address differences through dialogue."

On May 8, the U.S. side limited visas for Chinese journalists to 90 days, requiring them to apply for visa renewal every 90 days. "As we understand, relevant Chinese journalists already applied for visa extension but none of them has received reply from the U.S. side," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin at a daily press briefing.

"When we say mutual respect, this includes the respect of our culture and history. As developing countries, both China and Fiji share a lot in terms of long history, very old culture and seeking common development. We can learn from each other and we can help each other including cooperation in the field of archives," he said.
