Across China: Yemeni student introduces China's anti-epidemic fight to the world

Xi congratulates Lukashenko on re-election as Belarusian president

Chinese FM calls for cooperation instead of decoupling in China-U.S. ties

Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said that a sound and stable China-U.S. relationship affects the well-being of China, the United States and the world at large..

Wei Shangjin, professor of finance and economics at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and School of International and Public Affairs, said forcing TikTok to be sold cheaply to a "very American" buyer will endanger many U.S. firms in the Chinese market, according to an opinion published by Project Syndicate on Thursday..

TikTok has been downloaded over 175 million times in the United States and over 1 billion times globally, according to the executive order, which claims that the app automatically captures "vast swaths of information" from its users, posing risks to U.S. national security..

"These gestures show the true friendship that we always support each other in every difficult situation," Sorasak said.

The United States, while having at least 20 laws on national security and sovereignty itself, has rampantly slandered and maligned China's national security legislation for Hong Kong, taking double standards and hypocrisy to the extreme.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The differences between the United States and China "should be seen as opportunities, possibilities for mutual learning, for cooperation," Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai has said.

The supplies are due to arrive in Laos by the end of August.

"Today we are in the 21st century. Why should we allow history to repeat? Why should we repeat what happened in the last century when we are faced with so many new challenges, global challenges? I don't think a new cold war would serve anybody's interests or will give us any solution to the problem," Cui said, responding to a question on the recent speech on China by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Nixon Library.

The United States is also seeking to drive a wedge between China and countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and disrupt the consultation process of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, Wang added.

With sympathy and empathy, China has offered substantial assistance to the epidemic-stricken United States in terms of anti-virus supplies, and has supported and facilitated U.S. procurement of medical supplies in China, Wang said at a press briefing in response to comments made by U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad on Thursday.

I don't think a new cold war would serve anybody's interests or will give us any solution to the problem," Cui said, responding to a question on the recent speech on China by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Nixon Library.

A spokesperson with the office said the 11 U.S. individuals, including members of the U.S. Congress and heads of several U.S. non-governmental organizations, have notorious records on affairs related to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China. These include coming up with Hong Kong-related bills, blatantly supporting "Hong Kong independence" organizations and violent radicals, or smearing the "one country, two systems" and the law on safeguarding national security in Hong Kong by various means.

"We also know that freedom has boundaries," he said. "Respect for science, reason, law and order as well as international rules are the basis of freedom."

The United States is also seeking to drive a wedge between China and countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and disrupt the consultation process of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, Wang added.

It must be pointed out that U.S. accusations against the national security law for Hong Kong go against facts, and have legal and logical fallacies.

The proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan for Social and Economic Development (2021-2025) and future targets for 2035 will be assessed during the fifth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) scheduled to be held in Beijing in October, according to a meeting of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau last week.

Starting from common interests of both sides, China and the United States should carry out open dialogue and cooperation, it said.

What they want is to revive McCarthyism in an attempt to undermine U.S. relations with China, stoke hostility between the two peoples, and erode trust between the two countries, Wang said.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks in response to relevant U.S. biological militarization activities, which have caused great concern and raised many questions and objections.

"We hope that the U.S. can overcome the COVID-19 epidemic at an early date." Meanwhile, a small number of U.S. politicians should stop politicizing and stigmatizing the COVID-19 issues, stop shifting the blame to China, and work with the international community to overcome the impact of the epidemic, Wang said. Figures from the World Bank's Doing Business 2020 report show that China has made greater progress in the 2005-2020 period than any other large economy in terms of facilitating the ease of doing business. Moreover, China's Ministry of Commerce is amending a regulation on foreign strategic investments in Chinese listed firms to ease thresholds and restrictions on foreigners buying equity stakes.

Although Trump's actions could yield a short-term gain for the United States, they have introduced severe potential risks to U.S. interests, not to mention international and domestic rules of commerce, Wei said.
