Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a daily press briefing when commenting on U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent announcement of the so-called "Clean Network" program to eliminate some Chinese apps from U.S. app stores.
"Culture exchange between Fiji and China is very important, and our relationship goes a long way back. Cultural exchange is actually a bridge which helps us better understand each other and learn from each other," said Yabaki, who visited China twice.
Such a blatant act of bullying runs against the World Trade Organization's principles of openness, transparency and non-discrimination and has exposed the hegemonic nature of the world' sole superpower.
During his visit, Pompeo repeated his anti-China agenda while talking about cooperation with the Czech Republic on 5G security and nuclear power plant construction. He claimed that using technologies from China and Russia would pose a "danger" to the sovereignty and security of the Czech Republic.
In the interview, Wang refuted a series of recent U.S. moves hurting bilateral ties, including U.S. closing the Chinese Consulate-General in Houston, launching global campaign against Chinese companies, making fierce attacks on the Communist Party of China and interfering into China's internal affairs.

"We will continue to require enterprises engaged in deep-sea fishing to strictly abide by relevant laws and regulations," he added.

"China is a sufficiently skilled country, and above all patient, and knows how to handle things with great prudence and composure," he added.
As COVID-19 takes its toll on the global economy, China and the United States should stop attempts at decoupling and advance the relationship through cooperation, and live up to their responsibility for the world, said Wang.
