BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian on Wednesday said China firmly opposed any official interactions between the United States and Taiwan under any pretext.
-- China-U.S. cooperation has never been a case of one party giving favor to the other, or one party taking advantage of the other.
It needs to be stressed again that the Chinese government is determined to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, implement the "one country, two systems" principle, and oppose external interference in Hong Kong affairs.
He said the Chinese side rejects any attempt to create a so-called "new Cold War", because it contravenes the fundamental interests of the Chinese and American peoples and the global trend toward development and progress.

"The erroneous words and moves by the U.S. Administration constituted interference in China's internal affairs. They undermined China's interests and seriously disrupted China-U.S. relations, putting the relationship in a most complex and grave situation since the establishment of diplomatic ties," said Yang.
The move is nothing but a hysterical outburst of hegemonism after these U.S. politicians failed in their attempts to manipulate Hong Kong affairs, the spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to him, these Chinese workers will have a mandatory seven-day medical check before flying to PNG, and undergo a 14-day quarantine in designated hotels in Port Moresby after arrival.
The United States should also work with China and the rest of the international community to step up international cooperation, particularly in the ongoing fight against the pandemic, and to support the multilateral system with the United Nations at the center and make it better and more effective, instead of turning against it.
LJUBLJANA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- China firmly opposes U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remarks against China during his visit to Slovenia, the Chinese Embassy in Slovenia said in a statement on Thursday criticizing U.S. attempts to create a "New Cold War."
However, he acknowledged that the current political climate in the United States might make that difficult as the November presidential elections draw near.
